Send the Class Announcement as an E-mail

Keep in mind that the Announcements tool has an "Email this announcement to all course users" feature, so you can send an Announcement to everyone in the class as an e-mail as well as posting it to the Announcements page.

E-mail the Entire Class

Following the links:[your class] > CONTROL PANEL > SEND EMAIL > ALL USERS allows you to email the entire class. Simply fill in a subject and a message and click submit.

E-mail the part of the Class

Following the links:[your class] > CONTROL PANEL > SEND EMAIL > SINGLE / SELECT USERS allows you to select which members of the class get an e-mail. Use the arrows to push students across to the selected box and then, fill in a subject and a message and click submit.

You can use this to remind one or two students that they have not finished a particular assignment.
