Catalyst Boot Camp

As you may already know, the Catalyst Boot Camp is not a computer class. It is a pedagogy workshop, introducing faculty to the broad array of instructional technologies available here at Hofstra and around the world, and helping them think through what types of tools might assist them in their own teaching. For faculty who are already comfortable with technology, it is a great way to learn in-depth about the resources Hofstra offers and get hands-on help in applying those tools to their own courses. For faculty who are new to technology, it is a grounding course in the basics of instructional technology that do not change over time as well as an introduction to current technology tools. Important questions such as digital literacy, copyright, privacy, and time management enter into our discussions as well. Bring your own questions - we will try to address them!
Our goal with the Catalyst Boot Camp is really to educate faculty about their instructional technology options.
Faculty who would like to participate do need to participate for the entire schedule, all four days. Past Boot Camps have tended to develop into groups with their own personality, with the faculty assisting each other and reinforcing what they find to be important. Participants report that the camp was fun.

Catalyst Boot Camp generally happens the week after Commencement in May and the week before classes start for the spring semester in January. Contact me if you're interested in signing up for one!
