Blackboard Search
From TeachToolsWiki
Contents |
What is this?
Blackboard now provides search capability for your content. You can search across all of your courses and through all of the content you have rights to from the My Hofstra Blackboard (entry) page. You can search the content within a course. Or you can search within either a Blog or a Wiki within a course.
Why would I use this?
One of the skills we need to develop to facilitate teaching and learning online is content managment. "Where is that file?" "How can I find a file I used last year?" "Where should a file be, so my students can find it?" The search tools assist with content managment at all levels.
Who is using this?
Anyone who has content on Blackboard will find the search tools useful.
Searching All of Your Courses
The Main Search Page
| On the main Search page, you can search across all of your courses or select a single course from the drop-down list to search. |
|
Advanced Search
| On the Advanced Search page, you can select options as to how you want to search for words, which courses you want to search, and what kind of files you want to find. |
|
Course Level Search
| From within any course in Blackboard, you can click the "Course Tools" link in the white box below the left-side navigation links. This search tool will enable you to search within this course, and the Advanced search tool will give you the word and file type options to search within this course. |
|
Blog or Wiki Search
| Both the Blackboard Blog tool and the Blackboard Wiki tool have a Search link on the right. This search tool will enable you to search within just the Blog or just the Wiki, and the Advanced search tool will give you the word search options. |
