Content Toolbar
The Content Toolbar appears in every content folder no matter how you name the content folders.
In any content folder, you can Add Items
The WYSIWYG editor
| The Add Item page (accessed from the Content Toolbar) requires you to enter a Name for the content. Below the name, you can either paste or type text into the WYSIWYG editor. Along with text editing options for adding links, tables and equations, the WYSIWYG editor allows you to attach a File, Image, MPG, AVI, Quicktime, Audio, or Flash.

Attach a local file
| With or without the WYSIWYG editor, you can attach a local file to the Blackboard page by using the Browse button to search for and select the file on your computrer. If you type a name for the link to the file, that name will appear on the screen for the students instead of the filename.

File naming in Blackboard
When uploading files to Blackboard, please use the following naming convention:
Use letters (both upper and lower case), numbers, and the underscore.
Do not use the period, spaces or any of the characters accessed by holding the shift key and using the top row.
Letters, numbers, and the underscore create safe file names.
Special Action
The Special Action choices allow you to specify:
- Create a link to this file puts a link on the page that students can click to view or download the file.
- "Display media file with the page" puts the image or video up on the page
- "Unpackage this file" is used to open a zip file. For instance, you can
- create a web site in a folder with an index page
- zip that folder
- browse to the zipped folder
- click submit
- select the index page
- click submit again
- Blackboard will open the entire web site starting with the selected index page.
